This was our 1st ever Pinewood derby race for Boyscouts this year. Mason was super excited to carve and design his own car. Daddy took him to a clinic one Saturday morning where they had all the tools available to cut out your car from a wooden block. They then brought it home and sanded and weighted the car with weights. It had to be 5oz or below so Daddy watched a lot of you tube videos to get it just right. Mommy helped Mason design and paint his car, he chose flames with a skull head and wanted to call him ghost rider. He also chose the number 53 for his car since that is his favorite tv channel cartoon network. We knew he was racing against 50 other kids in his pack and they take the best of 12 races to determine winners. Mason did awesome as his car won 8 of 12 races with time 3 seconds and under each time. He was over the moon when he recieved a giant 2nd place overall trophy and a smaller trophy for participation. This really set the bar high for future races but we had fun doing it so we will see:)
